Diane Bell [00:00:37]:
I am so happy you're here. How are you doing today, my dear friend? I hope you are super. Well, I am feeling, I don't know, a lot of feelings as we come into the end of the year. I don't know about you guys. This year has definitely had its challenges. It's had its ups, it's had its downs. But I'm feeling that sensation of it coming to an end. And I am so excited about 2024.
Diane Bell [00:01:00]:
I'm currently leading a workshop, your best year yet, and we just completed day two of it. And I feel just really activated by it myself. Because the truth is, whatever has gone in the past is gone, and there is a blank slate in the future. And if you do the work, you can create whatever you desire. Like, you don't have to look to your past for evidence of what you can create in the future. You can literally just go right from here on in, this is how it's going to be. And you can just jump timelines, just shift, just break through to a whole new level, to a whole new life. Anything is possible.
Diane Bell [00:01:43]:
When I think of some of my biggest shifting years, it kind of blows my mind. What is possible in a single year? For example, there was the year when I started the year in January, going out to the desert with a few friends to shoot some tests for a concept trailer. Now, at this point, I had never made a film before. I'd never been to film school, hadn't made a short film. I'd never made a music video or a commercial or anything. And going out there to shoot this little concept trailer was just one of the most terrifying things I had ever done in my life. I mean, I remember actually on the first day of shooting this that I just had a good cry. And I was like, who am I to do this? Well, by the end of the year, I had got news that the film that I had managed to make in this year had got into Sundance.
Diane Bell [00:02:34]:
So as I was coming to the end of the year, I was like, oh, my God, I am going to Sundance with a movie. And in January of the following year, so January 1 year, I'm crying in my car thinking, who am I to even shoot this trailer? And one year later, I'm standing on this stage at Sundance receiving an award for my movie. One year. That is how fast your life can change. Now, in other years, I've done things like gone from zero to creating a business that did $55,000, which seemed huge. Going from zero to 55,000 was, like, mind blowing to me. But then the following year, more than doubling that, and then the following year, more than doubling that, it doesn't make sense. We can do the most extraordinary things.
Diane Bell [00:03:21]:
There was one year where I started the year in Denver, Colorado, thinking, God, I would love to move to Spain, but I don't know how this is going to be possible. I don't know how we're going to make this work. I don't know how this can happen. And by the end of the year, I had bought and moved into my dream home. Looking at the Mediterranean, I want you to reflect on your own life and to think of years where you have really moved the needle. Anything is possible. Now. The problem, though, is for many of us, as we go into a new year, we get drawn into these traditional goal setting routines.
Diane Bell [00:03:55]:
And I personally did this for years, and I can't believe I did it for as long as I did without shaking it up. So I remember one year going into a bookstore and buying a book. I think it was called something like your best year or something. I don't know what it was called, but something like that. And I'm not throwing shade on this book, by the way. I'm sure it worked for many people, but I'm going to give you an idea. So I bought this book and it outlined this very convincingly, why you should goal set in the way that it described. And it was all that traditional goal setting of achievable, measurable goals.
Diane Bell [00:04:25]:
And so I would make all these goals according to the formulas that this book suggested and write it all out. And there was like the money goal, and there was the health goal, and there was this goal and that goal and all the goals. I think there was like ten goals. By the end, you had like ten goals. And what would happen is I would get to the end of the year and I don't know why I did this, but I would actually pull out that same notebook and read the goals from the last year and then write this little thing about how far I'd got and what achieved and what I hadn't and why it worked and why I hadn't. And then I would write my new set of goals according to the same formula. I don't know why I kept doing it because I never worked. I would get to the end of every year and look back and be like, oh, man, I didn't do that and I didn't do that and I didn't do that and I didn't do that.
Diane Bell [00:05:11]:
And so I want to start this conversation by talking about why we don't achieve our goals. Because for so many of us, we can start the beginning of a new year with such enthusiasm and optimism and, yeah, it's a clean slate and it's so exciting. And now it's like I'm making my big goals and I've set them all and then we, somewhere along the line, just like lose faith and we stop even going after them and we're just like, until it comes to the next new year. And I literally did that for so many years, I'm embarrassed to admit it, until one year I was looking at them and I thought, there's no point in doing this. It's just a complete waste of time because I'm not making these goals happen. So what stops us from creating our big goals? The number one reason you don't get what you want is because you're not energetically aligned with it. Now, the problem with a lot of traditional goal setting is that it creates a feeling of pressure. It creates a feeling of mild anxiety, it creates a feeling of, like, will this work? And the issue with that is that no good things can come from that energy of pressure.
Diane Bell [00:06:19]:
If you are feeling like, oh, my God, I don't know if this is going to work and I need this to work, and if it doesn't work, it's going to be bad. And I don't think it's working. I don't think it's working. I don't think it's working. You don't have to be a genius at the law of attraction to know what you're attracting. More of that, which is likened to itself, is drawn. If we are in an energy of pressure, if we're in an energy of worry, an energy of anxiety, then we are not going to be magnetizing our dream results to us. It's impossible.
Diane Bell [00:06:46]:
We're going to be blocking them. Now, I found this really to be the case with those sort of measurable goals, because normally you break it down into sort of logical chunks. For instance, if you've said, okay, I want to earn $100,000 next year, so 25,000 quarter 125, thousand, quarter 225 thousand, quarter three, it makes perfect sense. But the problem is the way that that 100,000 might come to you is nothing. Nothing. And then, whoosh. 60,000, then, right, and then 40,000, then boom. And you're like, what just happened? But the way that this measurable way makes us feel is, oh, my gosh, January has happened.
Diane Bell [00:07:22]:
It didn't hit my goal. Like, the whole first quarter has gone by and I only got 2000. Well, if I only got 2000, I'm screwed. I'm never going to make it to 100,000. This is already a waste of time. Now I start to shrink my goal or I start to give up on it. I start to think I was stupid. All those kinds of things, all energy which blocks the result coming in.
Diane Bell [00:07:41]:
Whereas if instead we focus on, I'm going to get rid of the pressure. I'm going to have zero pressure in my life about achieving my goals. Basically, let's be honest, you are fine as you are. You may not be exactly where you want it to be in life, but you're fine. You're breathing, you're listening to this. I hope you have food in your fridge. You have a roof over your head. You're fine.
Diane Bell [00:08:07]:
Now. Big goals are things that would make our lives incredible, amazing, over the top. Oh, my gosh, what just happened? But we don't need them to happen. And this is where so many of us get tripped up. We start to think that we need it to happen. There's a pressure. Oh, my gosh, what if it doesn't happen? I need this to happen. And the minute we do that, our brains go into fight or flight mode.
Diane Bell [00:08:28]:
We go into survival mode. In survival mode, you will never make magical things happen, right? Magical things do not exist on the frequency of survival, on the frequency of need. Magical things exist on the frequency of desire. They exist on the frequency of joy, of gratitude. So we want to make sure that we're getting our energy into that state, that we're coming to. Our goals. First of all, from a place of overflow already, like, my life is already incredible. I'm so grateful for it.
Diane Bell [00:09:00]:
And now, whatever I can manifest, whatever I can bring in is like icing on the cake. It's the cherry on the Sunday. It's not the Sunday itself. It's not the cake itself. My life is already that. My life is already beautiful. My life is already a blessing. My life is already so much to celebrate that making my big dreams come true would just be like taking it to the next level, taking it to something that's spectacular, but I don't need them to happen.
Diane Bell [00:09:24]:
So when we start to come from this attitude, we start to take the pressure off, and now we start to get ourselves in a situation where we really could manifest our big goals. So as you cast your eye into 2024, what I invite you to do is really start to align yourself with what would be so exciting, what would be so fun, what would light me up, not what do I need to happen, or I'm screwed, but, like, what is really exciting to me. And then get yourself into energetic alignment with that. And what that means is shedding the scarcity around it, shedding the fear, sheding the anxiety, shedding the pressure. And instead of making it just like, wouldn't it be amazing if this thing happened? If you can get yourself into that headspace and you can stay into that frequency as much as possible in the new year, you will call in your biggest dreams. And this is really the key to making them happen. If you're wondering the real secret to manifesting, like, the energy that you want to inhabit, the frequency of your dreams, my biggest advice to you is explore the energy of gratitude. If you want big dreams to come true next year, it would be really smart to spend a lot of your time being grateful for what you already have instead of always thinking about how far it is to where you want to go, how, oh, you want to get there so much.
Diane Bell [00:10:48]:
Why is it taking so long? What if it's not working? Why am I not there already? If you can shift your focus from all that, which is just all story and which is just all holding you back, if you can shift from that to, oh, my God, how lucky am I, how blessed I am, how grateful I am. And as I talked with the participants in your best year yet today, I said, the gratitude doesn't even have to be for things in our own life. We don't have to be just grateful for my house, my shirt, my family, my blessings. Gratitude can just be for everything that is natural, that is infinite, that is. Yes. Now, those words, you might have gone, Diane, you just plagiarized. Yes. Those are words from a poem by E.
Diane Bell [00:11:33]:
E. Cummings. And that poem was something that I recited every single morning for years. I would get to the end of my yoga practice, and I would feel so good in my energy and in that state of just feeling so clear and so light and so bright. I would always come into this poem. It would just come through me. The poem by E. E.
Diane Bell [00:11:50]:
Cummings. I thank you God most for this amazing day, for the leaping greenleaf spirit of trees and the true blue dream of sky, and for everything that is natural, that is infinite, that is. Yes. And as I would say those words in my mind, I would just explode with a feeling of gratitude. For everything that is natural, that is infinite, that is. Yes. Notice we're not being grateful for things in my life. It's not about my things, it's for everything.
Diane Bell [00:12:16]:
And when we tap into that level of gratitude, we are just creating a frequency. That is the frequency for bringing our dreams into life, for manifesting our big goals. You don't have to control everything to make your big dreams come true. What you need to do is get into a frequency of gratitude. Release control, surrender control and enjoy the freaking ride. No pressure, all pleasure. That is the key to making your goals come true in 2024. So this is just a short little podcast today, but I hope this has planted a few little seeds in you.
Diane Bell [00:12:53]:
I hope this has opened up some new ways of thinking about your goals and thinking about how you will make them come true in 2024. If you want to join us for this whole workshop and you can get the recordings, please do. You can send me a DM or the link will be in the show notes of this podcast and you can get in there. It's a three part journey. It's a guided process that is all about how you really create the best year of your life. Not by creating goals that give you pressure and stress, but by how really getting yourself into energetic alignment with what you want and really being guided in a process to do that. So already today, the women who are in the group were just like, oh my God, I just feel so excited for the new year. I feel bursting with joy in my own life.
Diane Bell [00:13:40]:
I feel so excited for what I'm going to make happen. I feel like it's inevitable that my dreams are coming true. And my friend, that is the energy that we desire to call in if we're going to make our big goals come true. So if you want to join that workshop, I invite you to join us. It's absolutely beautiful and it's also kick starting my new container, a twelve month container called limitless life. So this container is for anybody who is ready to really open the channel to limitlessness in their life. Limitless abundance, limitless health, limitless energy, limitless love. Just that feeling of being in that frequency so every month in that container, you're going to have an exclusive class.
Diane Bell [00:14:25]:
There's going to be challenges, there's going to be meditations. There's going to be Zoom calls every single month. So all these things just to keep you plugged into this energy, because even as I'm talking about this, you're probably listening, going, yeah, I feel excited about the new year, and I feel that frequency. But then I get out in the real world. And so my goal with limitless life is to create a space, a vortex of energy in which you are held in that frequency of all your dreams coming true. So if you would like to join us in that, you can check it out. Dianebell.com limitless. We would love to see you in there.
