So you’ve written a script you’re proud of – but now what?
Sundance award winning screenwriter Diane Bell will guide you through the process of creating an actionable plan to sell your script – no matter where you live or who you know.
You’ve taken months (perhaps years) to write and rewrite your screenplay.
You didn’t do this so that it can exist as a file on your laptop.
You did it so it would become a movie.
But that’s not going to magically happen by itself.
You’re going to have to do the work of selling it.
That might seem scary.
You might think it’s impossible.
Without an agent or manager?
When you don’t live in LA or NYC?
BUT IT’S NOT.
How do I know?
Because I did it.
Hello friend, I’m Diane Bell.
I was living in Barcelona and didn’t know a single person in the US film industry when I completed my first script, but within a year I had sold it to a reputable producer in LA, made serious money and landed my first professional screenwriting gig, rewriting a script for John McTiernan, the legendary director of Die Hard and Predator.
I’ve gone on to direct three features, including one that premiered at Sundance and won two awards.
Selling that first screenplay literally changed my life and set me on a path of fulfilling my creative dreams.
Now I want to guide and support you through the process so that you can do it too.
When you sign up, you will receive an email containing a link to the first intro video lesson, a pdf summarizing the main points of the lesson, and clear pre-work assignments to get you started.
After that, you’ll receive a new lesson (via email) every two days. There are three core lessons that will guide you through the process, empowering you with the knowledge and inspiration you need, plus two bonus lessons.
The first lesson focuses on the tools you need to prepare before you try to sell, the second is all about creating a unique and targeted plan for your project, and the third is about what to expect when you take action, and how to make sure you succeed. You choose when to watch them and when to do the work.
You will be invited to join an exclusive closed group on Facebook where you can get support, and share your goals, challenges and triumphs. You can also get personal feedback on your logline and pitch.
You’ll learn the different options for selling your screenplay and the big picture of what is possible. You’ll also dig into some prework that is essential for success on your path.
Without these sharpened tools, you have no hope of anyone reading your script, never mind buying it. In this lesson, you’ll learn the keys to writing compelling loglines, synopses and pitches – and have the chance for personal feedback.
In this lesson you’re going to learn who to target, why to target them, and then how to approach them. You’ll learn the secret ingredient for a query letter that gets results and finish by making an actionable plan for your script – and take action.
This lesson deals with what to expect once you start taking action. How to protect your work, what options are and other possible outcomes are all covered. We also look at how to deal with rejection and make sure it doesn’t derail you.
In this bonus session, you’ll learn common self-limiting beliefs around selling screenplays that will block your success. Honestly, this session might be the most important of them all. If you want to achieve success at the highest level, you need to do this work.
We’ll discuss the difference between agents and managers, who you should be going after now, and how to land one.
Below you will find answers to a number of FAQs… but seriously if you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to email@example.com.
Once you sign up, you’ll receive six lessons (including two bonus lessons) over twelve days. Of course though, you can work through them at your own pace!
You have access to these lessons for life, and to all future updates to the course.
