I'm Diane Bell.
And I almost gave up.

I'm from Dumfries, Scotland, Â a small town that is about as far from Hollywood as the freaking moon.
When I decided I wanted to make films, I had no agent, no producer, no connections, no trust fund, and no idea how the industry worked. Â I was teaching yoga in Barcelona. Â I was starting from zero.
I spent eight years getting rejected by Sundance.  Eight years. I know what it feels like to pour everything you have into your work and hear nothing back.
And then - it changed.
Obselidia won two awards at Sundance and was nominated for Best First Screenplay at the Independent Spirit Awards. Bleeding Heart premiered at Tribeca. I've sold multiple scripts, been hired to rewrite for an A-list director, and built a career that I made myself - Â on my own terms, with my own rules.
I'm not telling you this to impress you. I'm telling you because if it's possible for me, it is absolutely possible for you.
I teach from the trenches. I've just spent the last six months making a documentary I shot in Ukraine and I'm working on a new narrative script. Â I walk the walk, not just talk the talk.
